Working over Christmas is hard enough for NHS staff. This year, Uber is offering free rides and meals to help workers get to and from shifts and grab food when options are limited.

Uber has confirmed it is running its Christmas support scheme again for NHS and health and social care staff, continuing a scheme that has now been in place for seven years.

Here’s what’s available, who can claim it, and what to check so there are no surprises on the day.

£10 sign-up bonus available.

Swagbucks lets you earn rewards in your spare time by answering surveys, watching videos, and playing simple games.

If you fancy giving it a go, new users can get a £10 bonus when they join.

What NHS staff can get this Christmas

Uber and Uber Eats are offering travel and food support to NHS and Health and Social Care workers who are working over the festive period.

If you have a valid NHS or HSC email address, you can usually claim:

  • Two £10 Uber ride credits for travel to or from work
  • One £10 Uber Eats credit for a meal or grocery delivery

The aim is to help staff when public transport is reduced and food options are limited due to shop and hospital canteen closures.

When the offer can be used

Uber has now run this scheme every Christmas for seven years in a row.

The credits can be used on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, 24 and 25 December 2025.

Who is eligible

The offer is open to:

  • NHS staff
  • Health and Social Care workers
  • Anyone with a valid NHS or HSC email address

Your job title does not matter.

Doctors, nurses, carers, porters, cleaners, admin staff, and support workers are all included as long as they have the correct work email.

How the free Uber ride credits work

The two £10 Uber ride credits are normally single-use credits.

That means you get two separate £10 journeys, such as one trip to work and one trip home. They cannot be combined into one £20 journey.

The rides must be booked in areas where Uber operates. If Uber does not run in your area, the credit will not apply.

This is particularly helpful on Christmas Day, when buses and trains are limited or not running at all.

How the Uber Eats credit works

The £10 Uber Eats credit can be used for hot meals, takeaway food, or groceries available on the Uber Eats app.

The credit covers the food itself. Delivery fees, service charges, and small order fees may still need to be paid, so it’s worth checking the final total before placing your order.

If you want to make it go further, grocery orders or places offering free delivery often give the best value.

How to claim the offer

To use the offer, a bit of setup is needed.

First, make sure you have an Uber account and an Uber Eats account.

Next, link your NHS or HSC email address to your Uber account. Uber uses this to confirm eligibility.

Once verified, Uber sends you a promo code. You need to manually add this code inside the Uber app. The same applies for Uber Eats.

It’s best to do this well before Christmas. Support teams are busy over the holidays, and codes can take time to arrive if you leave it too late.

Why this support matters

For many NHS and care workers, Christmas is spent on wards, in care homes, or travelling between shifts while the rest of the country slows down.

Transport is patchy. Food options are limited. Fatigue is high.

Skint Dad says:

A free ride home or a hot meal might sound small, but on a long Christmas shift, it can take away one worry and make the day feel more manageable.

A quick check before you rely on it

Before planning around the offer, it’s worth making sure:

  • Your NHS email is linked and verified
  • The promo code is added to your account
  • Uber operates in your area
  • You understand any fees that might still apply

Spending a few minutes checking now can save frustration later.

Final thoughts

If you work in the NHS or health and social care, this is well worth claiming if it runs again this year. It costs nothing, takes little effort, and could genuinely make Christmas Day easier.

We’ll keep Skint Dad updated with confirmed dates and details as soon as Uber releases them.

Because if you’re working through Christmas to look after everyone else, you deserve a bit of support too.
